Nexus Institute trains elite software engineers through intensive, mentor-driven programmes. No lectures — only building. Graduate with a portfolio of production-grade systems and the skills the world's best companies demand.
Our Method
We believe engineers are made in the editor, not the classroom. Every day at Nexus, students write real code solving real problems.
No lectures without code. Every concept is introduced through a concrete project — building a distributed system, writing a compiler, architecting an API. Students ship working software from week one.
Every student is paired with a senior engineer mentor from a top-tier company. Daily code reviews, pair programming sessions, and architectural discussions create the feedback loop that accelerates growth by 10x.
We hold all student work to production code standards — testing, documentation, code review, CI/CD. Graduates arrive at top companies with habits that would take a junior engineer years to acquire independently.
Programmes
18 weeks. React, Node, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes. Build and deploy three full-stack applications with engineering mentor and production infrastructure.
20 weeks. C, Rust, operating systems, distributed systems, performance engineering. For engineers who want to go deep — building databases, language runtimes, and network infrastructure.
16 weeks. Python, PyTorch, model training, MLOps, inference infrastructure. Build and deploy production ML models with industry engineers from leading AI labs.
12-week algorithms and data structures deep-dive targeting senior engineering interviews at FAANG companies. Daily problem solving, system design, and mock interview sessions with Google/Meta engineers.
Our Campus
Our San Francisco campus is a converted warehouse engineered for deep work — 80 engineering stations, private pairing rooms, a server room for hands-on infrastructure work, and a whiteboard-covered system design lab.
All campuses run 6 AM to 10 PM. Students have 24/7 access to development infrastructure, cloud environments, and the mentor network. When you're building, we're here.
Tour Our CampusAdmissions
A 90-minute online coding challenge assessing algorithmic thinking, problem decomposition, and code quality. We evaluate how you think, not what you know — prior programming experience helps but is not required.
A 60-minute video interview with a Nexus engineering mentor. Live coding, system design thinking, and a conversation about your technical background and what you want to build.
The admissions committee places each accepted student in the programme that best matches their background and goals. We may recommend prerequisites or suggest a particular starting programme based on your assessment results.
Accepted students receive a four-week pre-cohort programme: setup, foundational reading, and starter exercises designed to ensure everyone arrives at an equivalent baseline on day one.
Your first day begins with a two-hour deep-dive into the system you will build across the programme. No orientation presentations — we start building immediately. This is Nexus.
Our Track Record
Three engineers from Google, Stripe, and Dropbox launch Nexus with a first cohort of twelve students in a SoMa loft. All twelve are hired within 60 days of graduation.
European demand drives the opening of a Berlin campus serving students across the EU. The cohort sells out within 24 hours of announcement.
The Machine Learning Engineering programme launches to address the acute global shortage of production ML engineers. First cohort includes six students who go on to join leading AI labs.
Nexus crosses 4,200 graduates with a 96% placement rate and an average starting salary 40% above the industry median. Our hiring partner network now includes 140 leading companies.

Cohorts begin quarterly. Each programme accepts a maximum of 30 students to maintain the quality of mentorship and peer learning that defines the Nexus experience.
Income Share Agreements (ISAs) are available — no upfront cost, pay only when you're earning above $80,000. We only succeed if you do.
