Tidalux was founded in 2014 by tidal hydrodynamicists and marine engineers who recognised that the world's tidal energy resource — 1,000 terawatt-hours per year — was almost entirely untapped.

Tidal Excellence

2014

Tidalux Founded

Tidal hydrodynamicists establish Tidalux with backing from a UK infrastructure fund, deploying the first prototype turbine in the Pentland Firth.

2017

First Commercial Station

The Pentland Firth 16MW station delivers first power to the Scottish grid — the world's first commercially licensed tidal stream installation.

2020

100MW Milestone

Tidalux passes 100MW of commissioned tidal capacity across four stations — a global milestone for the tidal energy industry.

2023

International Expansion

The Bay of Fundy, with the world's highest tidal range, becomes Tidalux's first North American station — a 80MW landmark project.

2025
