We do not bottle fragrance. We bottle the precise moment a forest floor exhales after rain, or jasmine at the exact hour it surrenders its oils.
Every VELLUM fragrance traces back to a specific field, grove, or sea. We source only the first-press, unrefined extract — the true living material.
"We do not create fragrances for skin —
we create them for memory."
VELLUM was born from a single conviction: that the oldest sense deserves the most truthful attention. We macerate slowly. We distill carefully. We never synthesize what nature still yields. Each flacon contains an ecosystem — not an idea of one. This is not perfumery as status. This is perfumery as consequence.
Each VELLUM fragrance begins with a single moment in nature — then follows it wherever the materials lead. Sold in limited numbered editions.
A requiem for the night-blooming rose. ELEGY opens on a bruised petal — Bulgarian rose macerated 48 hours longer than convention permits — then descends into raw Assam oud and a benzoin base that clings like warm amber resin.
The hour before ceremony. Sambac jasmine — picked in darkness to preserve the most volatile top notes — suspended in a cool iris root heart. Grounded by Atlas cedarwood and a whisper of white musks.
A photograph of late light through a canyon. Cistus labdanum — arguably the most ancient perfume material still in use — anchors an amber-forward structure cut through by Haitian vetiver's green-mineral edge.
From field to flacon: the journey each VELLUM fragrance takes before it is ready to inhabit a life.
Our perfumers travel to origin. We work directly with cooperatives in Grasse, Assam, Socotra, and the Atlas Mountains — buying at harvest, not through brokers. Raw material quality is non-negotiable.
Delicate materials — jasmine, rose, violet — are cold-maceated in organic carrier oils for a minimum of 21 days. This preserves volatile top notes that steam distillation destroys. No short cuts.
Our resident perfumer develops each accord over a period of 6–18 months. We iterate through dozens of structural variations before the formula is locked. Simplicity is pursued, never assumed.
Each bottle is filled by hand in our Antibes atelier. The crystal flacon is individually inspected, the stopper hand-polished, and the ribbon-sealed collar applied by a single artisan who signs the base.
Every VELLUM fragrance is issued in editions of 500. Each flacon carries a hand-written edition number, batch date, and the perfumer's initials. A provenance certificate accompanies every purchase.
We invite you to our atelier — in person or through a private video session — to discover which of our fragrances speaks to your particular memory.
